What do you want for the community? It is a powerful question that will spawn many answers. Though how many of those answers truly put the need of the individual and new comer to mind? Sure we can create all kinds of places for folks to socialize. But a lot of the same you can find in pagan groups, bdsm groups, etc. So if they can find all that elsewhere then what would they really need the vc for? From my knowledge outside of being told they are not crazy it is that they need a place to learn, practice safely, then go on with their life however they wish for that to be.
So how many resources for truly around for teaching and helping these days? Think on it, search around, let me know. The fact is many places that offer stuff for networking can indeed be handy for a new person to find people more local to them. Or a place to look up if they are going to travel and may need something to help them. But even those do not help the basis of it all. Why do most people come to the vc? To learn. To find what is going on with them. It is not about fangs or balls. It is about them truly needing and wanting help so they can live as happy and normal a life as possible.
Yes various folks have different needs which leads to various ways to get to what they need. Why having groups who focus on specifics and those who are more a generalized thing has great merit for both. The general can help one narrow down then they can move onto the groups focused on what they narrowed it down to.
However many folks miss all this. of course there is many reasons why they do miss the point, but, we need to get past this and really get the point. If you learned what you needed from the vc when you sought it out then the vc is no longer for you exactly. It is for those that will come after you seeking the same. While many things have advanced or grown in the vc, one area has greatly suffered. The one purpose everyone seeks it out for has become non-existent.
So why is this? I am sure there is more than one reason of course. But rather than trying to make a new anything why not focus on mentor ship, teaching, and growth in the right areas as opposed to those that mostly serve the ones who already learned? If the ones that already learned want anything it should simply be to help the newcomers, protect them from the predators, and make the vc as a whole seem like a positive healthy place. Many of course will say they do yet they are always in drama and spend so much time on that I cannot really believe they have time for much else.
Many people want to lead or be leaders but very few want to teach every individual they have a voice and how to use it. Yes not everyone will want to speak at all and many prefer to remain in the shadows and solitary. That is fine to. Long as they realize they can if they choose to.
My random for the day.
